Element Labs Helix P1 is a Winner of the 2009 ESTA Rock Our World Awards
For the second year in a row, Element Labs' products have won the ESTA Rock Our World Award, this year for its innovative creation in Marco Borsato's Wit Licht Concert.
At the second annual Rock Our World Awards, which were presented at ESTA's Annual Dinner on 19 November, the evening before the LDI show; Element Labs product Helix P1 was declared a winner for its use in Marco Borsato's Wit Licht Concert Tour. Cobra, another Element Labs product, was a
finalist. These awards, which recognise ground-breaking achievement by ESTA members in new products, product applications or projects, were created to acknowledge the genius of both the creator of technology and the designer or integrator who applies the technology in a real world environment. Almost 30 nominations were received from across the industry and these were narrowed down to a shortlist of ten finalists and then finally five winners.
Element Labs Helix P1 debuted with the Marco Borsato concert tour. Marco Borsato, who has sold over 5.5 million album and DVD sales, is renowned for innovative shows that push the boundaries. His most recent tour, "Wit Licht" ("White Light"), displayed a 3-dimensional light and video extravaganza that wrapped the stage and downstage "road" in Element Labs' innovative Helix P1 which created an intense visual experience that enhanced Borsato's energetic performances.
Set designer, Bart Clement, and Stefaan "Smasher" Desmedt along with one of the world's foremost rental companies, XL Video, developed the unique design which formed a video carpet that took Borsato in the midst of his fans, and was backed by three rings also made of the Helix P1 pixel strings. In total, the design features 4,884 Helix P1 pixel strings with a total of over 150,000 individual pixels. The rings were augmented by a 242 square meter Stealth display that split and moved across the stage.
Element Labs won the ESTA Rock Our World Award last year for its massive Versa RAY installation at the 15th Asian Games. The Versa RAY screen covered over 4500 square meters and was especially designed to fit the curved Khalifa stadium in Doha.
