Loud & Clear Heard Loud and Clear with Kudo
Celebrating its 23rd year of business, Cincinnati-based live production company Loud & Clear, Inc. has expanded its L-Acoustics inventory with the recent purchase of 16 Kudo line source array enclosures, several SB28 subs, and 20 new LA Series amplified controllers.
Although the company already owns numerous V-DOSC, dV-DOSC, ARCS, SB218, dV-SUB, SB118, and 115XT HiQ enclosures, it was Kudo's flexibility that ultimately sold Loud & Clear president Bill Deavers on the new purchase. "Kudo is a highly versatile system," he says. "Not only does it have enough horsepower to handle most larger venues, but the adjustable dispersion pattern enables us to carry a single PA that can easily be reconfigured to handle any variety of theaters, coliseums, arenas, and amphitheaters on a tour. The environments may differ dramatically each night, but they can all be accommodated by the Kudo, which we consider the multi-tool of our loudspeaker inventory. The box's internal rigging is also particularly nice. It's a powerful system and truly invaluable for a regional house like us."
Deavers is no less enthusiastic about L-Acoustics' new amplified controllers, which provide power, processing, and comprehensive remote control and monitoring facilities via Network Manager. "The bottom line is that the industry is moving to DSP-processed amplifiers and the LA8 is absolutely the cutting edge," Deavers notes. "It's very apparent that a tremendous amount of effort went into creating and optimising the presets for these amps, and the results are absolutely brilliant. The Kudo really comes to life with the LA8, as do all of our other systems. We own the gamut of L-Acoustics loudspeakers and the amplifier settings allow us to literally ‘load and go' when it comes to a show.
"As an example, we've used the various presets to repurpose a 115XT HiQ to function as a stage monitor, fill speaker, and PA cabinet for an intimate environment - and the sound for each application was perfect thanks to the DSP settings we quickly dialed up. They're fantastic."
In addition to its full range of concert production services - including sound reinforcement, lighting, staging, roofing, barricades, and generators for power distribution - Loud & Clear also has an active systems contracting business that has installed KIVA/KILO, dV-DOSC/dV-SUB, and other L-Acoustics systems
