Sound Image Takes on Adamson
San Diego based Sound Image has acquired a new Adamson PA system that includes 24 x Y18, 32 x Y10 and 12 x T21.
SI wrapped up their first tour with the new system on John Legend's North American theatre tour over the winter. John Legend needed a scalable system that would also put his incredible talents up front at this critical time in his career. The artist gained mainstream fame in the recent months as he's climbed to the top of the Billboard R&B charts with his album: "Evolver", by winning his 6th Grammy, as well as a much publicised career highlight performing at the Obama inauguration.
"Touring with this show is a little more difficult because on a day to day basis the system has to be very versatile" comments Gary Sanguinet, SI's Crew Chief. "Everyone bends over backward to make it work because we see that this artist is going somewhere and we want to be there when he arrives." The recent tour went off without a hiccup and had great audio reviews across the country.
"We feel that Sound Image and Adamson have a similar approach to the way that they treat their clients. They are a service focused organisation and they do a great job. I had been talking to Dave about what Adamson and Sound Image could do together for quite a few years, and we're excited in the direction it has now taken. Sound Image has a solid team of creative people and they make our gear sound great when they put it out. And at the end of the day that is the best marketing available." comments Jesse Adamson, Adamson Systems engineering's, director of marketing and males.
Sound Image president Dave Shadoan, had his own take: "I was talking to someone the other day and they asked me: ‘why did you buy that Adamson stuff?' I responded ‘Jesse made me do it!' It's simple: we provide what our clients ask us for. There are some great mix engineers out there who ask us for Adamson, we just make sure they get what they want. And Adamson makes sure that we know who those people are."
Sound Image was established in 1971. With offices in San Diego, Nashville and the United Kingdom (as well as affiliations worldwide), their infrastructure is in place to successfully supply live sound reinforcement equipment and personnel for any size concert or event. The Touring Division's Nashville office opened in 1992, allowing Sound Image to gain new inroads into the country music market. SI's Touring Division provides sound systems and personnel for thousands of concerts and other staged events each year.
The shiny new Adamson rig is scheduled to go out this summer on an unannounced, up-coming SI tour.
