Klotz OptoLink a Boost for Pro A/V

The OptoLink series from Klotz a.i.s. currently comprises two types of fibre optic converters: OptoLink HD-SDI - for digital video and HDTV (SMPTE compliant up to 1.5Gb/s) and OptoLink DVI - for DVI-D interfaces featuring additional stereo audio over one fibre. Fibre optic converters are the best solution for high bandwidth signal transmission over long distances.

The OptoLink series offers outstanding product features and performance. On air, fibre optic technology is impervious to ground loops, signal interference and drop-off. The cable can be run together with high-voltage power lines, video, audio and data cables, and even in rough environments using adequate cable systems such as Klotz FibreLink. Best of all, the information content of the received signal is absolutely genuine.

OptoLink never uses compression, scaling, frame-dropping or other destructive signalling techniques. Additionally it does not require equalisation, making start-up as easy as connecting the cables and going on-air. In the broadcast industry, where a few seconds of downtime can cost millions, providers can't afford to compromise on their equipment, including extreme temperatures!

When a product is needed to perform a specific function, products' capabilities and costs are reviewed by planners and clients. The cost of labour, cable, connectors and any other required hardware have to be factored in. But what about the imponderables? The day-to-day mishaps in commissioning? Typical troubles during installation of analogue equipment and / or copper cabling are bad signal quality due to interferences, low signal levels at long cable runs and the requirement of signal repeaters, increased bandwidth demand coming along with higher resolutions and awkward adjustable equipment.

With OptoLink, these problems never will occur. Advantages of the OptoLink series include: - simple cable drop, no costly repeaters; ground loops, crosstalk, EMI, RF and other interference is literally impossible; genuine signal transmission without data processing; no requirement of configuration or technical expertise - plug and play; wide operating temperature range.
