Richard Pilbrow Celebrates 80
Family, friends and colleagues joined doyen of
lighting designers Richard Pilbrow at the Garrick
Club in London in June to celebrate his 80th
birthday. John Offord was there to take some
pictures.

Andy Collier Remembered
Andy Collier died on Friday 12 July following a
heart attack while travelling to an ALD meeting in
central London.
This appreciation is based on Andy’s (as ever
self-effacing) autobiographical sketch, as published
in the Profiles series by Entertainment Technology
Press in 2000.

Robe Lighting: International Growth
Based in the Czech Republic, Robe is a main-
stage player in the design and manufacture of
automated luminaires and digital lighting products.
Owners Ladislav Petřek and Josef Valchář have
guided the company to its present pre-eminent
position. John Offord researched the story.

Starlight Express Celebrates 25th
Anniversary in Bochum with New
MLA Compact
When the updated production of Starlight Express
opened at Bochum’s Stadionring – celebrating 25
years since its first performance at the specially
constructed ‘Starlight Express Theatre’ in June 1988
– it featured for the first time Martin Audio’s new
award-winning Multi-cellular Loudspeaker Array (MLA)
platform.
Advertising itself as “the fastest musical in the
universe” it fell to sound supervisor Riccardo van
Krugten and system engineer/installation manager,
Georg Hentschel to supercharge the next generation
production while remaining faithful to Martin Levan’s
original sound design.

Co-Founder David Leggett Holds a
Celebration Party
A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd’s
co-founder director, David Leggett celebrated his 60th
birthday in style at his home high up in the Chiltern
Hills on a cool and windy Saturday in June and
etnow’s John Offord was there to enjoy the occasion
and capture some pictures.
AC-ET’s Peter Butler took the dramatic projection
shots of the effects played on the windmill, which sits
within the grounds and is famous for its role in the
film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
