The production team at LarMac Live have continued to invest in the infrastructure and entertainment technology to ensure the festival continues to attract the many thousands of electronic dance music aficionados who flock there annually. Ian Greenway is the production manager: “We have sold out for the last seven years and attract an audience of over 70,000 but being content with the status quo is not an intelligent option in this game. As we approach our 20th anniversary in 2017 we’ve continued to raise our game across all aspects of the festival. Perhaps the most significant this year has been the new Steel Yard stage. But of course, in some departments change is neither necessary or advisable so, once again, we engaged Britannia Row Productions to supply the audio systems for the two main stages, including the new Steel Yard.”

To take on the project, a new working group is being created within ESTA's Technical Standards Program (TSP) called the Event Safety Working Group (ESWG). Leading the new group will be co-chairs Dr. Donald Cooper, executive director of the ESA and Richard Nix, special project manager for ZFX, Inc. USA – It was 1983 when Cruz Martínez – then just 12 years old – first took up the keyboard to play in a family band in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. His natural talent and musical intuition inspired La Sombra de Chicago to ask him to produce their album Porque te Quiero four years later, when Martínez was just 16 years old! That album was nominated for an American Grammy Award, solidifying Martínez’ standing in the industry and inspiring his move to Corpus Christi, Texas, where the label Freddie Records had a state-side studio. Soon after, Martínez started playing keyboards for the same Tejano band he was producing for La Sombra. From there, he founded and produced Los Kumbia Kings – arguably The Beatles of cumbia music, complete with a dramatic breakup – and more recently its descendent, Los Super Reyes. Across the decades, Martínez has amassed numerous platinum albums and Grammy nominations, along with five Grammy wins. He currently works out of personal studios in Corpus Christi and Monterrey, Mexico, while making plenty of time to produce, arrange, engineer and song write records for his wife – famous Latin singer Alicia Villarreal – and their children.

The Vatican – The first World Youth Day (WYD) was held in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican by His Holiness John Paul II in 1984 as a response to his invitation for an International Jubilee of youth on Palm Sunday. Three-hundred-thousand young people from around the world gathered that first year and it has become the tradition that every Palm Sunday WYD is celebrated in a different city around the world.
