International Theatre Engineering & Architecture Conference 2018

UK – It is now confirmed that the next edition of the International Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference will be presented at Savoy Place, the Global Engineering Hub of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), on 3-5 June 2018.

Situated in the heart of London, on the north bank of the River Thames overlooking the National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall and close to the historic Savoy Theatre, the Savoy Place venue, with its impressive views, offers a most appropriate location for the once every four years ITEAC.

Since 1909 the IET has called Savoy Place home, although the membership based organisation began life in 1871 as the Society of Telegraph Engineers, formed to address the concerns of that emerging profession and the developing electrical science industry. Shortly afterwards in 1887 it became the Institution of Electrical Engineers, name-changing once again in 2006 to its current guise.

With a mission to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community, supporting technological innovation to meet the needs of society, the IET recently undertook a two-year £30 million refurbishment of Savoy Place, to make the building more flexible, adaptable to changing technology, to improve its sustainability and promote accessibility.

It now ranks as one of London’s premiere and most inspiring event spaces and is the ideal place in which to enthuse and stimulate the current – and the next – generation of those who design buildings for the performing arts and supply the production technology within them.

The fifth edition of ITEAC looks set to be the most effective yet at exploring the needs of the makers and creators of performance and the current and future possibilities available to satisfy them.
