Doughty debuts new prototype Lightweight Lighting Stand at PLASA Focus, Glasgow
UK – Doughty Engineering is set to bring a prototype lightweight lighting stand to PLASA Focus in Glasgow next week. The new piece of kit is a lighter, aesthetically simpler version of the Tank Trap, and has been designed with the corporate events market in mind.
Dan Phillips, project sales co-ordinator at Doughty commented: "This time last year we were launching our Three PositionTank Trap which turned out to be one of our most popular products of 2017. The lightweight lighting stand takes the principles of a Tank Trap but packages them into a neater, more aesthetically pleasing model. It comprises a flat round plate and slim tube, slotted at each end to allow cables to run unseen inside it. A 28mm receiver is incorporated in the top of the stand which will take an industry standard 28mm spigot."
Dan added: "When used in conjunction with a spigot adapter the stand can be used to hold small speakers. It's certainly a robust piece of kit, but has a sleeker appearance and reduces the issue of trip hazards associated with tripod stands more commonly used in this application. They also come with a stacking slot which allows for them to be stacked together like our standard Tank Traps and a carry handle too. We're delighted to be bringing them to PLASA Glasgow to get feedback from everyone who attends."
A big brother of the lightweight lighting stand will also make an appearance on stand B6. The Three Position Tank Trap, which following its Glasgow debut went on to win the ABTT Engineering Product of the Year, enables rigging to be built close to a wall, in the corner of a room or near to an obstruction. It has a detachable receiver suitable for 48mm barrel, which may be fitted to any of the three mounting points, which are located in the centre as per a standard tank trap, at the edge and in the corner.
Dan continued: “As well as the Tank Trap, we’ll also have our Space Savers on the stand as well as the pole operated yoke and of course our wide range of clamps and a selection of items from our extensive product range. PLASA Focus Glasgow as the first trade show of the year for us, is the perfect place to show off new products and in the case of the Lightweight Lighting Stand, get feedback while the product is still in its prototype stage so that we can take any comments on board and where possible consider how we can make the product which hits the shelves, an item which ticks all the boxes for the user.”
