Rock-solid and powerful: Barco’s new true solid state projector delivers a vision to trust at ISE 2019
The Netherlands – Barco will be showcasing its new FL40 series in a compact, interactive driving simulator at ISE 2019. Working alongside VI-grade, the leading provider of best-in class software products and services for the automotive industry and project:syntropy, professional system integrator and display solutions expert, the FL40 will be delivering a powerful performance not to be missed.
Following the successful launch of the FL40 at I/ITSEC in Orlando (November 2018), this is the first time the FL40 is showcased publicly in the EMEA region. The rock-solid FL40 projector is a true solid-state projector, using the latest in HLD and LED illumination technology. It combines amazing visual performance and extreme reliability with a low TCO. Even in the most demanding environments it delivers a vision to trust.
Built on the powerful Barco Pulse software platform, the FL40 has a flexible architecture that allows for up to 4K (3,840 x 2,400) resolution and advanced low-latency processing taking place in only one single step. Regardless of resolution or degree of geometry correction, the image latency is always kept to a minimum, a huge advantage in interactive, real-time environments like in a driving simulator or a dark ride.
In the Barco Hospitality suite a two channel FL40 will be integrated into a compact VI-grade driving simulator with a curved screen by project: syntropy. ProjectionTools by domeprojection.com is used to perform projection alignment and calibration of the two FL40 projectors, an operation that is performed via the Barco Pulse software inside the FL40. The result is a perfectly warped and blended projection image, combined with meticulously precise correction of color, black-level and many more parameters.
“The FL40 is an extremely robust and flexible projector on so many levels,” says Christoph Bode, owner and technical director, domeprojection.com. “As a projection alignment and calibration provider we really appreciate that we can develop our own management tools and value-add features utilising the processing power of the Barco Pulse software architecture found on all the new Barco projectors. For us this means we can develop our tools once, after which they are applicable across the entire Barco portfolio. This saves us drastically on time and resources, future-proofing our investment.”
Guido Bairati, VP global sales, VI-grade, adds: “We are really excited to show off our Compact Driving Simulator for the first time at ISE together with our close partners Barco and project: syntropy. The extremely high resolution, colour rich and smooth imagery provided by the FL40 really brings out the best of the VI-GraphSim that runs the driving scenarios. Also important is the way domeprojection.com and project: syntropy have worked to align, calibrate and set everything up in the system.”
The FL40 and the Compact Driving Simulator solution can be found in the Barco Hospitality suite D504 on the 5th floor of the Elicium building.
