Boston's Cathedral of the Holy Cross Chooses Powersoft for Historic Renovation

USA – As the largest church of any faith in New England, Cathedral of the Holy Cross has long served as an important gathering place and "Mother Church" for Catholics living in the Archdiocese of Boston. Since its dedication in 1875 however, the structure's Upper Church has received relatively little refurbishment until 2018, when crews began an extensive renovation project of the 150-year-old Gothic revival structure. This renovation importantly included a full-scale overhaul of the Cathedral's sound system, which is now powered by Powersoft Ottocanali 1204 amplifiers and a custom designed line-array employing Powersoft D-Cell 504 2-/4-channel amp modules with onboard DSP and controlled by Powersoft’s Armonía software. The results of the renovation were debuted to over 30 million viewers worldwide via CatholicTV's filmed broadcast of the Chrism Mass held at Cathedral of the Holy Cross on 19 April.

Japan – In April 2019, Kraftwerk put on four sold-out shows in Tokyo. d&b audiotechnik Japan provided the system solutions used in Orchard Hall, which belongs to the Bunkamura complex. The sound solutions included KSL loudspeakers with D80 amps and d&b Soundscape to reproduce a sound immersion that totally impressed the audiences. The combined use of KSL and Soundscape was a world premiere and a perfect complement to the visual 3D experience offered by the Kraftwerk performances.

Argentina – It did not take long for Clair Brothers newest Argentine distributor, SVC, to make a significant sale of the Manheim, Pennsylvania loudspeaker manufacturer’s C12 line array system. With integral presentation assistance from Fabián Giordano of Sonamos Audio, a key Clair Brothers partner in Argentina, the live demo at Giordano’s location to Argentine production company Merino Producciones Técnicas was a great success. “This was not just a demo,” explains Ricardo Pegnotti, audio division director at SVC, “it was an event attended by several recognised audio professionals from the region.” In fact, one of the attendees at the presentation was Pichón Dal Pont, a renowned sound engineer and winner of three Grammy Awards. He commented on the demo and the subsequent sale of the C12 system: "Clair Brothers in Argentina? Who would have dreamed it? I’m in awe of how much quality, power and presence, within the entire musical range, this system offers. It’s incredible! I wish we had C12s for shows in my day. Just listening to them, I only need to say one word about what they are for me… perfect!"
