For his recent work on Papadosio’s second annual Summer Sequence at the Pisgah Brewing Company, part of creating this space relied on weaving the lighting around the band’s music to tell a visual story. Using rich jewel tones and super-saturated colours to create a seamless, kaleidoscopic environment, Klein relied on a variety of Chauvet DJ fixtures to transport the audience to another dimension, one ruled by the genre-bending music of the band.

USA – Featuring captivating characters and adrenaline-pumping action, Impact Wrestling is a two-hour weekly television production touring to packed houses across North America. In an environment where the action takes place both in and out of the ring, the production team must be able to create an expansive design in a number of different performance venues. As the tour made its way to Tennessee, the designers at Atlas Productions needed to quickly adapt to the capabilities of the Sports Arena at The Fairgrounds Nashville, so they worked with Elite Multimedia Productions who provided a full audio, LED, video and lighting design.

However, BMHFM also curates and promotes the best of contemporary bluegrass via its adjacent Woodward Theatre, a 450-seat purpose-built space for acoustic music. BMHFM worked with national AVL integration firm Clair Solutions to make the Woodward Theatre a state-of-the-art performance venue and production studio that is capable of broadcasting, editing, streaming, and archiving performances from hall of fame inductees and bluegrass’s rising stars. Specifically, Clair Solutions designed, installed, and commissioned the video, audio, lighting and rigging systems for the Woodward Theatre.

Germany – The Fridays for Future movement and the clear message given by the recent European elections point to one fact: the future must and will be greener. Themes such as sustainability, social responsibility, environmental protection and nature conservation have increasingly become the focus of public debate and in recent years have taken on importance in both the event and film industry. One example of the support being given to green events and productions is a project by the German Academy: in April it announced that in future, with its partners, it would be committing to alternative and sustainable event concepts. Its declared aim is for the German Film Awards to ‘go green’. A system devised specifically for events will ensure that future German Film Award ceremonies are sustainable and carbon-neutral. This is based on the SUSTAINEVENT management system which was developed by 2bdifferent for the event industry. As it says on the website: “Crate Diggers is the world’s largest international series of music festivals dedicated to promoting vinyl, collectability and physical music.” A vinyl records event with a lot of exhibitors and even more visitors. Besides countless albums, singles and maxi-singles, “Crate Diggers” also presented a great live line-up. Headliner this year was Sister Sledge who gave a magnificent show. James Tomlinson Lighting was asked to arrange the lighting for the live stage. He used a lot of Showtec Phantom 3R Hybrid and Infinity Furion S-601 fixtures and asked light designer John Richardson to design and program the show. Richardson said of his experience with the Infinity Furion S-601: “The units seem well made with nice materials, the menu system was easy to navigate with both touch screen and a handy jog wheel. The 500W white LED engine seems nice and uniform and fairly punchy although does lack slightly when coming up against saturated colours, heavy gobos and prisms. Which to be honest is expected.

USA – Founded in 1961, Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, began with a congregation of 270 families. Since then, it has brought together more than a dozen times that number of families over the last half-century, making it the largest parish in the Archdiocese of Newark but, until recently, the church had not made any significant renovations to its original design. Rather than build a new church altogether, the parish raised over $6 million to overhaul the original building in order to accommodate its growing flock, and in early 2017 crews began construction on an ambitious design intended to open up more available seating for the burgeoning congregation. However, the design for the new worship space created a unique set of acoustical challenges when it came to plotting out and installing the renovated church's sound system, which is powered by Powersoft Quattrocanali 1204 amplifier platforms.

Mexico – Auditorio Citibanamex is a live music venue located in Monterrey, that has emerged as one of the country’s top concert venues since undergoing an extensive renovation and redesign several years ago. Located in the heart of Monterrey’s Fundidora Park, the venue has a capacity of 8,000 and attracts both national and international artists. Despite the renovation, the venue stood somewhat unobtrusive in a brush of static white light until last summer when it received a radiant outdoor wash of colour courtesy of company Adimsa, Elation’s long-time partner in Mexico and one of the country’s leading lighting providers.
