Martin Audio WPS shipping from September

Martin Audio has confirmed that its new WPS, the fourth model in the award winning and best-selling Wavefront Precision optimised line array series, will be shipping with effect from early September.

When it was first announced in June and premiered at InfoComm 2019 in Orlando, its goal of setting a new benchmark in 8” line array technology while drawing on all the unique attributes of scalable resolution, caused a stir in the industry. Scaleable resolution means that the more enclosures with dedicated amplifier channels, the higher the resolution and scale of coverage and control is achievable.

The Wavefront Precision architecture delivers greatly improved coverage, consistency and control compared with standard line arrays, making the product series uniquely flexible, upgradeable and financially accessible.

Dom Harter, managing director, stated: “We were delighted with the response we received from the market when WPS was first announced and are pleased to have been able to bring it to market on time.”

The latest addition to the Wavefront Precision range can achieve a peak SPL of 133dB and is perfect for applications that require a high output array with reduced weight and footprint. This makes it ideal for live sound reinforcement and installations in theatres, concert halls and Houses of Worship, while rental companies will see scope in deploying WPS arrays as front-fill, delay or side-hang support for larger Wavefront Precision systems.

The passive three-way system integrates a high density of drive units in a very compact enclosure, specifically 2 x 8” LF drivers, 4 x 4” midrange drivers and 4 x 1” exit HF compression drivers loaded by a moulded HF horn which occupies the full width of the enclosure and defines the 100° horizontal constant directivity coverage pattern of both the HF and midrange sections.

For extended low frequency performance, WPS is designed to be partnered with the SXC118 cardioid subwoofer and its flyable variant, SXCF118.

“Wavefront Precision has been the company’s fastest ever selling line array series,” exclaims Harter, “and we are delighted that the journey is continuing with the launch of WPS.”

He added that for anyone who missed its first showcase at InfoComm 2019, there will be an opportunity to both hear and interact with WPS – along with the rest of the Wavefront Precision series at the Martin Audio Open Days (17-19 September).
