Australia – Mike Osman is an audio professional with an impressive, eclectic and distinctly global CV. Based near Brisbane in Australia, his career began 10,000 miles away in South Wales. As a young working musician he started a small PA company, and cut his teeth providing audio for a wide range of events. Gaining experience and with a clear flair for audio engineering, Mike moved to London to work on the ABBA MANIA West End show. Still working with bands, he impressed singer Wayne Hussey (whilst mixing support band Karnataka) and was offered a role with Hussey’s goth-rockers The Mission. During this period Mike also worked with a number of leading rental companies, and was either front of house or on monitors for many major names, including Motörhead and Snoop Dogg. As monitor engineer for Art Garfunkel he was the first engineer to tour the DiGiCo SD8, and also worked as a system tech for bands such as Megadeth and Thirty Seconds To Mars.

Looking back at 2020, this has been a year of many ups and downs, with companies undergoing radical transformations from facilitating physical events to adopting pioneering technologies used for remote productions, virtual set-ups and generally tapping into the world of virtual production. For Spectre Studios, however, virtual production (VP) is not a new field. The company was already using real-time engines and virtual production technologies for its work on Hollywood blockbusters and, last year, set up ICVFX full-service LED VP studio in conjunction with Big Picture, part of the NEP Worldwide Network, using top-quality equipment at the facility which includes Brompton Tessera LED processing power to drive ROE LED panels.

Germany – In the 1980s and 1990s, Purple Schulz achieved great national fame as a German pop singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and radio presenter with titles such as "Sehnsucht", "Verliebte Jungs" and "Kleine Seen". In times of Corona he was also looking for ideas how to perform concerts despite the restrictions, with success. Recently, a collaboration came about that could not replace live music in the future, but could change it. Specifically, this involved a concert in which all the components were completely remotely controlled. On the technical side, a grandMA3 system, running grandMA3 software, was used for the control and for the lighting, among others, Prolights Pixie Zoom, Portman Lights P1 Retro and Portman Lights P3 PIX3L, as well as MAC Viper AirFX and MAC Viper Profile were specified by the design team.

Created by local artist Paul Kuhn in partnership with Dark Moon Designs and Intelligent Lighting Creations, the memorial depicts a firefighter climbing a 'Ladder of Light' and was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of a crash that killed three Naperville firefighters.
