Version 2’s QC-Check investment integrates consistent safety into growth trajectory

UK – Specialist lighting and production supplier to the television, broadcast and event industries, Version 2 (V2), has become the latest AV production house to integrate safety into its day-to-day transactional process by investing in a QC-Check workstation from Data Strategy.

With rapid growth over the last few years, Version 2 needed a testing solution that could stay abreast of the company’s ongoing rental stock expansion and according to Sam Crook, V2’s technical operations manager, “QC-Check quickly became the obvious choice.”

QC-check’s impressive range of test functions that exceed the capabilities of other products in the marketplace stood the product apart initially. However, it was QC-Check’s integration with rental management systems as standard that was a stand-out feature for V2; the company uses Protonic Software’s easyjob, with which QC-Check has several previous, proven integrations.

For V2, the implementation of standardised testing via QC-Check partners the company’s commitment to enhance the customer experience by delivering excellence throughout all areas of the business. So, even as the company continues to expand and support a growing team of varying abilities, V2 has the surety with QC-Check in place, that a consistent inspection process is always maintained.

QC-Check is set up to manage testing across V2’s wide ranging broadcast lighting rental inventory, including 16A TRS, Socapex, heavy mains cable, tungsten lanterns, moving lights, LED and even the company’s range of BS7909-compliant distribution units.

Sam confirms: “QC-Check has embedded the time-saving task of testing multicore cables and to perform fully recordable RCD testing on large distribution units. It’s also given us the ability to export detailed test histories per circuit where required.”

He adds: “From the initial – and remote – QC-Check software demonstration with Iain [Data Strategy’s Iain Roche] we’ve been able to pick up the process of building the test types fairly intuitively and have successfully moved the company’s stock across over the course of a few weeks. The QC-Check workstation will ensure Version 2 remain able to provide the quality of equipment that we’ve become known for as our rental offering continues to expand.”

Iain Roche commented: “Version 2’s investment into QC-Check is well-timed to ensure consistent safety processes whilst the company continues its rapid growth curve. QC-Check’s ease of use will help free up the time of Version 2’s skilled team of technicians whilst the time-consuming job of testing and inspecting electrical equipment and cables becomes part of the process.”
