UK - Without lifting, the entertainment industry will grind to a halt: theatre, television and film sets would not be moved, lighting rigs for live concerts will remain on the stage instead of above it. However, in the spring of 2020, the sector really did come to a sudden stop. Entertainment was hugely impacted by Covid, being one of the first sectors to be put into lockdown and often one of the last to be freed from restrictions, as Paul Fulcher, founder and managing director of Rigging Services, explains. Many freelance contractors found themselves out of work, and often ineligible for furlough or other assistance. There was a mass exodus from the industry and many experienced hands have not returned.

Fifty years later, the church was still growing, to the point where they had completely maxed out their outdated audio console’s processing capabilities in 2022. They soon approached Keith Wackford, sales and production manager at Sacramento Production Services, for his help and expertise. “They wanted a new system that offered personal monitor mixing for the band, and multitrack recording capabilities,” recalled Wackford. “They also run a lot of wireless, but with very little personnel to actually monitor and adjust it, so telemetry and control of wireless devices from the front of house console was crucial.”

Created by Frank Verstraeten, Zillion included all the things Verstraeten felt other clubs lacked, particularly in the visual element. Using the most technologically advanced fixtures of the time, his club boasted moving lights, atmospheric lighting FX and elements of a budding AV phenomena. UK – At the end of last year, H&M unveiled its newly redesigned flagship store on London's Regent Street, featuring cutting-edge, generative artwork displayed on a double 4k resolution LED screen from Leyard Europe. One of Europe’s largest indoor LED screens, it was installed by London-based LEDTek Solutions. The LED screen, which frames a set of escalators and fills the entire rear wall of the store, has been designed to showcase a series of progressive and stylish digital materials that complement the aesthetic of the brand and act as an extension of the H&M’s elevated architecture, encouraging people to enter the store when seen from afar.

Metro Club in Chicago Upgrades with dual dLive Consoles

USA – The historic Metro club in Chicago recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and the venue simultaneously underwent a major audio upgrade. “In 2021, we had changed everything about the PA, except the actual audio consoles,” recalled installer John Wagner of Ayre Productions. The staff at the club eventually told Wagner that they wanted to explore changing out the front of house and monitor consoles as well. “They inquired about Allen & Heath’s dLive platform, so we set them up with a demo.” Local sales rep Shawn McLoughlin soon brought in two dLive S5000 surfaces for the team to try out and it was a perfect match. “dLive was leaps and bounds better than what they were using previously,” noted Wagner. “They really liked the sound and the workflow.”
