UK – On April 6th 2024, the Royal Albert Hall hosted Ministry of Sound Classical. This is an epic performance from beginning to end, with a set list inspired by the wildly popular Ministry of Sound Annual Volume II. Released in 1996, the album remains one of the biggest selling dance compilations ever made and is performed on stage by the 50-piece RG Live London Concert Orchestra with guest synth players and vocalists. Sound designer, Phil Wright, chose a DiGiCo Quantum 338 for the front of house position and a Quantum 225 for on stage monitoring due to their powerful processing and compact footprints.

Germany – Around 3,000 guests experienced impressive dimensions at the official opening event of the International Tourism Fair 2024 in Berlin on 4 March. A huge, continuous video wall 105 metres wide and eight metres high was illuminated with the presentation of this year's guest country, Oman. This was supplied and built by Innlights Displaysolutions from Wuppertal on behalf of Berlin-based TSE AG. “It is the largest LED wall in one piece that we have ever realised for an indoor event,” explains Kolja Birkenbach from Innlights Displaysolutions and emphasises: “With our extensive rental stock, we are able to deliver large video walls at any time, even at short notice, and offer our customers a 360° service.” It should be emphasised that the Innlights InnScreen LED series are available in large ‘one batch’ quantities. They each come from one production batch and are therefore identical in colour and can be combined without any problems. Innlights used its InnVision SCXR Pro 7U video controller for the video processing of the 17,640 x 1,344 pixels. In its maximum configuration, the controller is equipped with 11 input and 11 output cards, each of which controls 4K resolutions. For the ITB event with 840 square metres of LED modules, the InnVision controller was connected via seven output cards in ten-bit colour depth using fibre optic cables between the control room and the LED wall. The controller's multi-view board provides a constant diagnosis of the video signal quality, which enables the technicians in the control room to achieve the best possible quality control when controlling the video wall. Innlights Displaysolutions deployed ten technicians and a further six assistants to set up the hardware. The team only needed a total of 20 hours for installation and commissioning. “We are proud that the event went off without a hitch and without a problem with such a short set up time and would like to thank TSE AG for the great co-operation,” says Kolja Birkenbach, summarising the impressive event in retrospect.

USA – “Pretty much any time the church staff calls me up and asks if we can do this or can we do that, the answer I can always give them is, ‘Yes’!” says Parker Gann, system engineer at MessengerAVL, the Conyers, Georgia-based integration firm that designed and installed a new audio upgrade for Church Unlimited. The Corpus Christi, Texas campus of the non-denominational, evangelical, multi-site church, which seats over 1,500 worshipers and is also its broadcast centre, completed a major audio systems upgrade in February in which MessengerAVL installed a KLANG:konductor immersive in-ear monitor mixing system routed through a new DiGiCo Quantum338 front of house console. A Quantum225 desk, used as the church’s new broadcast console, was also part of the upgrade package. “It’s their largest campus and their flagship campus and now it’s their most advanced campus when it comes to audio,” Gann adds.

Saudi Arabia – Months before hundreds of thousands of attendees descended on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for Soundstorm 2023, the team at PRG was busy planning the rigging, audio, lighting and video networks for the biggest of the eight stages on site. Named “Big Beast”, the stage featured one of the largest LED screens on the planet, measuring a staggering 189 metres wide by 43 metres high, with over 200 million pixels broken up into 28 UHDs. James Morden, PRG’s lead video engineer for the event, puts it in context: “If you're in a big stadium, the pitch is about 100 metres long; imagine placing a screen on the pitch that goes through both goals, out of the stadium and into the parking lot, and sticks through the roof. Your brain can't process it.”
