Internationaal Theatre Amsterdam Upgrades with ETC’s Eos Apex Lighting Control

The Netherlands – Internationaal Theatre Amsterdam (ITA) has upgraded its space with ETC’s Eos Apex lighting control, supplied and supported by ETC dealer Ampco Flashlight, as part of its ongoing commitment to modernising the venue and elevating production quality.

ITA is one of the Netherlands’ leading theatre venues and touring companies, home to world-class actors and a pioneering team of directors, hosting a diverse range of plays, productions and touring performances. Its latest show, ‘Giovanni’s Room’, forms part of a European tour, rotating between venues of all sizes every two weeks.

To upgrade its spaces, ITA evaluated multiple lighting control systems, carefully considering performance, flexibility and reliability. The team, led by lighting co-ordinator Wannes Klop, selected ETC for its exceptional colour engine, high-quality build, and precise control, which perfectly suited the venue’s requirements, as well as their touring needs.

The new products installed include Eos Apex 5, two Apex FP consoles, two Ion XE 20 control, programming wing, ETC Puck, fader wings and Source Four LED Series 2 fixtures, in combination with a fully integrated infrastructure containing ETC Response gateways and a Sensor3 ThruPower dimming system, giving the team complete control over colour, intensity and cues across the venue and the international tours.

Lighting engineer Wouter Pieters commented on choosing ETC: “ETC stood out for its colour engine and overall quality. The system allows for very precise operation, which is exactly what we needed at ITA. The hardware, particularly the encoders, is incredibly useful; now we can use 14 encoders where previously we had far less than that. With ETC, you have everything you need in a console.”

ETC associate regional manager Robbi Nassi adds: “We’re delighted that ITA has chosen ETC to support their ambitious programming. Our goal is always to provide tools that give lighting designers and technicians the creative freedom they need while ensuring reliability and consistency in the theatre. ITA’s team has made excellent use of the Apex system to bring their productions to life.”

With ETC’s lighting control now in place, the theatre has enhanced its performances while creating a better experience for audiences across all productions.
